HC Deb 20 December 1927 vol 212 c208
34. Mr. LANSBURY

asked the Under-Secretary of State for the Colonies whether has has received from the Government of India or from Indian interests in British Guiana, either directly or through the Government of India, any representations with regard to the proposed constitutional changes in British Guiana involving the abolition of rights at present possessed of democratic participation in the Government of the Colony; and, if so, whether he will state the terms of such representations?

Mr. ORMSBY-GORE

I have received several representations, some supporting, others opposing, the proposed constitutional changes, from East Indians in British Guiana, but none from the Government of India, and I cannot accept the hon. Member's description of the proposed changes.
