HC Deb 15 December 1927 vol 211 cc2502-3
61. Captain CROOKSHANK

asked the Minister of Transport whether his attention has been called to the danger that arises for road users from the fact that tramcars stop without giving any warning to traffic behind them; and, if so, whether he is considering making it compulsory for tramcars to carry brake lights or some other such form of indicator?

The MINISTER of TRANSPORT (Colonel Ashley)

I am advised that there would be certain technical difficulties in giving effect to my hon. and gallant Friend's suggestion, and in any case I do not think that it would be desirable to require tramcars to be equipped with signalling arrangements such as he sug- gests unless a similar requirement were to be imposed on other classes of vehicles.
