HC Deb 07 December 1927 vol 211 cc1359-60
12. Mr. ROBINSON

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty what are the terms governing the grant of a Greenwich Hospital Canada Pension; what is the amount of the pension weekly; and what is the number of naval pensioners who have been granted a Greenwich Hospital Canada Pension?

Lieut.-Colonel HEADLAM

Greenwich Hospital Canada Pensions may be awarded to seamen and Royal Marines of good character who are in receipt of naval pensions for life and who are 55 years of age or over. The money available for the purpose is sufficient to keep in force 64 pensions. The pensions are at the rate of £7 12s. a year payable quarterly (2s. 11d. per week). Since their inception in 1917, Greenwich Hospital Canada Pensions have been awarded in 102 cases.
