§ 18. Mr. HARDIEasked the Home Secretary whether his Department has any knowledge of any case of poisoning due to the use of petrol containing tetra-ethyl of lead?
§ Sir W. JOYNSON-HICKSThe answer is in the negative.
§ Mr. HARDIEWill the right hon. Gentleman consider whether in cases of a motorist charged with drunkenness who denies the charge it is not possible to have an analysis made of the petrol at his expense, as evidence in the case?
§ Sir W. JOYNSON-HICKSI do not think I have any power to order an 682 analysis of that kind. It is quite clear, unless the hon. Member has information which I have not, the poisoning does not exist.
