HC Deb 28 April 1927 vol 205 c997
6. Sir JOHN POWER

asked the Home Secretary if his attention has been drawn to the difficulty of observing the signals of constables on point duty at night; and whether, under the circumstances, he will arrange for such constables to wear white overalls in future?

Sir W. JOYNSON-HICKS

This question is under consideration, but I do not think a case has been made out for the adoption of white overalls in the Metropolitan Police Force. White sleeves are being tried, and if they prove satisfactory it is proposed to supply them to the officers performing duty at all traffic points in the Metropolitan Police District.
