Mr. COUPERasked the Secretary of State for War whether the withholding of pay from other ranks of the 47th (2nd London) Division, Territorial Army, in respect of Easter camp, had any effect on the attendance at last Easter training; and whether he will give the number of other ranks of the 47th Division present at training at Easter, 1927, 1926, and 1925, respectively, and the corresponding strength of the division at those dates?

Friend's permission, I will circulate in the OFFICIAL REPORT, appear to support the suggestion in the first part of the question. I might explain that the General Officer Commanding decided that the Training Funds at his disposal, from which pay for attendance at Easter camp, if granted, would have had to be found, could be more advantageously spent on courses of instruction and on the training of specialists.
