HC Deb 14 April 1927 vol 205 cc525-6
1. Colonel DAY

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he has received from the London County Council a recommendation, passed on the advice of its public control committee, urging him to amend the Theatrical Employers' Registration Act, so as to give licensing authorities the power to refuse or cancel registration under this Act and/or to enforce the penal provisions of the Act; and whether he proposes to introduce the necessary legislation?

The FINANCIAL SECRETARY to the WAR OFFICE (Captain King)

I beg to refer the hon. Member to the reply Which my right hon. Friend gave to the hon. Member for Gateshead (Mr. Beckett) on the 7th April.

Colonel DAY

Can the hon. and gallant Gentleman say when the inquiries which the Secretary of State is making will be completed? This matter has been standing over for a long time, and I always get the same reply.

Captain KING

The answer given in the reply referred to said that the right hon. Gentleman may be able to give an answer to a question if it is put down shortly after Easter.
