HC Deb 13 April 1927 vol 205 cc356-7
33. Major COHEN

asked the Under-Secretary of State for the Home Department, as representing the First Commissioner of Works, why he has refused the request of the British Legion to broadcast their annual Cenotaph service on Whitsunday, in view of the value of this service to thousands of ex-service men and widows and dependants of ex-service men who are unable to be in London on this date?

Captain KING

The request was refused after consultation with the police. The matter has, however, been further considered, and it has been decided to grant the request provided no obstruction to traffic is caused and no loud speakers are used.
