HC Deb 12 April 1927 vol 205 cc191-2
76. Sir H. BRITTAIN

asked the Postmaster-General whether he has had his attention called to the results of experiments in television carried out in the United States; and whether any research of a similar nature is being undertaken in this country?

Viscount WOLMER

The answer to both questions is in the affirmative. As I informed the hon. Member for the Central Division of Southwark (Colonel Day) on the 8th March, the matter is not yet out of the experimental stage.

Sir H. BRITTAIN

Will the Noble Lord be very careful about encouraging what may prove to be a very tiresome invention?

Viscount WOLMER

The Post Office is bound to accept all inventions which may be for the service of the community, whether they are tiresome or not.
