HC Deb 11 April 1927 vol 205 cc21-2
53. Sir FRANK SANDERSON

asked the President of the Board of Trade what was the amount of woollen textile goods imported into this country for the period of three months ended 31st March, 1927?

Sir B. CHADWICK

I would refer my hon. Friend to the figures on page 62 of the Monthly Trade Accounts for March, which will be published to-morrow?

Brigadier-General Sir HENRY CROFT

Is it not a fact that these goods imported during the three months represent employment that could have been given to the unemployed in the textile industry in Lancashire? Will the hon. Member convey that to the Chancellor of the Exchequer before he makes his speech?
