§ 86. Mr. CONNOLLYasked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Overseas Trade Department what amount has been guaranteed, up to the last available date, under the credit guarantee scheme; what firms have applied for the benefit of the scheme; the names of the trading countries; and the British products chiefly affected by the operation of the scheme?
§ Sir P. CUNLIFFE-LISTERUp to the 2nd April, the Department has given guarantees amounting to £6,401,634.
I am unable to give the information asked for in the second part of the hon. Member's question, as it is an essential condition of the scheme that all inquiries and applications will be treated with strict confidence.
As to the remainder of the question, I would refer the hon. Member to the quarterly statements published in the "Board of Trade Journal," the latest of which appeared in the issue of the 27th January last.
