HC Deb 04 April 1927 vol 204 c1670
26. Mr. GILLETT

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether He has received a telegram from the Mayor of Nairobi protesting against the Bill to impose conscription on the Colony; and what steps does he propose to take in regard to it?

Mr. AMERY

I have received the telegram, but I do not propose to take any steps in the matter, as I have not yet been informed of the views of the Colonial Government in regard to proceeding with the Bill.

Mr, GILLETT

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that Colonel Warde, one of the members for Nairobi, has declared that the majority of his constituents are opposed to this Bill?

Mr. AMERY

Yes, Sir
