HC Deb 26 October 1926 vol 199 c692
Mr. MACLEAN

(by Private Notice) asked the Prime Minister whether and when he proposes to put into operation those portions of Regulations 1, 2, and 14, which give the Government power to take possession of land, fuel and buildings, and property deemed requisite for the purposes of the storage, distribution, supply or disposal of coal?

Colonel LANE FOX

I have been asked to reply. In the view of the Government the powers at present being exercised are meeting the position. Additional powers will be used if and when the circumstances require.

Mr. MACLEAN

Is it not the case that these powers are not additional powers, but are already in the possession of the Government? Are they going to put them into operation against mineowners who are holding back supplies of coal?
