HC Deb 29 November 1926 vol 200 cc818-9
52. Mr. G. HARVEY

asked the Prime Minister if he can give any indication of the date when it is intended to take the Second Reading of the Sale of Food (Weights and Measures) Bill?

The PRIME MINISTER

I hope that the progress of business will allow of this Bill being passed into law before Prorogation.

Lieut.-Colonel Sir FREDERICK HALL

Does the right hon. Gentleman realise that the small shopkeepers fear they are going to be treated very harshly; and will the Government pay great attention to the wishes of these small shopkeepers in the Committee stage?

The PRIME MINISTER

If that be so, it will be brought out in the Committee.
