Mr. THURTLEasked the Under-Secretary of State for India whether he has now received any communication from the Government of India with regard to the suggestion that the International Labour Organisation might be asked to call a conference between representatives of India, Japan and China on the question of labour conditions in these countries?
§ Earl WINTERTONYes, Sir. Before giving further consideration to the suggestion, the Government of India would prefer to await the results of the documentary inquiry which is now being conducted by the International Labour Office, in accordance with a Resolution of the International Labour Conference, into the conditions of work in Eastern countries.
§ Mr. THURTLEWhen the results of the inquiry are known, will the matter he further considered?
