Mr. CHAMBERLAINThe expenditure under the Widows', Orphans' and Old Age Contributory Pensions Act, in England and Wales, chargeable to the Pensions Account for the period up to 31st September, 1926, is approximately £4,750,000. An estimate of expenditure for the whole of Great Britain for the fifteen months to 31st March, 1927, is given in the Report of the Government Actuary on the financial provisions of the Bill (Cmd. 2406/1925). No separate estimate has been made for the period specified in the question.
