HC Deb 24 November 1926 vol 200 cc378-9
3. Mr. PONSONBY

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he has any statement to make to this House with regard to the policy now being pursued by His Majesty's Government in Egypt?

Sir A. CHAMBERLAIN

No, Sir. The policy of His Majesty's Government is unchanged. I have noticed with pleasure the reference to Anglo-Egyptian relations in the Speech from the Throne at the opening of the Egyptian Parliament last week, and the support of His Majesty's Government is assured for a policy of friendship and co-operation in the common interests of the two countries.

Mr. PONSONBY

Can the right hon. Gentleman say whether there is any further development with regard to the application of Egypt for membership of the League of Nations?

Sir A. CHAMBERLAIN

No, Sir.
