§ 66. Mr. SHEPHERDasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether His Majesty's Government last year received offers from the Swiss and Dutch Governments to extend the scope of their existing arbitration treaties to cover all classes of disputes without reservation; and, if so, what replies were given?
§ The UNDER-SECRETARY of STATE for FOREIGN AFFAIRS (Mr. Godfrey Locker- Lampson)The answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative. The question of extending the scope of the arbitration treaties by which this country is now bound has been under consideration at the Imperial Conference, and I am not in a position to make any statement on the subject until the conclusions of the Conference are published.
