HC Deb 11 November 1926 vol 199 cc1309-10
The ATTORNEY-GENERAL

I beg to move, in page 17, line 38, to leave out from the word "station," to the word "is," in line 41, and to insert instead thereof the words acquired under this Act by any authorised undertakers, company, or person, or by the Board, or a main transmission line acquired Under this Act by the Board. This is really a drafting Amendment, which is necessary by reason of certain alterations in the wording of Clause 5 made in Committee.

Amendment agreed to.

Amendment proposed: In page 18, line 2, to leave out the word "Board," and to insert thereof the words body so acquiring the generating station or main transmission line (in this Act referred to as 'the acquiring authority')."—[The Attorney-General.]

Mr. ATTLEE

I would ask whether there is an omission in this Amendment? In the Amendment, just passed, we deal with the acquisition of a generating station by any authorised undertakers, company or person, or by the Board, or a main transmission line acquired by the Board. In this Amendment you are leaving out the Board altogether.

The ATTORNEY-GENERAL

I think the answer is that the Board is a body; it is constituted as such under Clause 1.

Amendment agreed to.

Further Amendment made: In page 18, line 3, leave out the words "the Board," and insert instead thereof the words "an acquiring authority."—[The Attorney-General.]
