HC Deb 12 May 1926 vol 195 c880
Mr. SCURR

(by Private Notice) asked the Home Secretary the reason why Mr. J. J. Colin, tobacconist, of 459, Commercial Road, Stepney, was ordered by police sergeant H.40, to remove a copy of the "British Worker" from his shop window, and was threatened with the closing of his shop if he did not comply with the order; whether the Home Secretary is aware that many shops are exhibiting copies of the "British Gazette" and other news sheets and extracts from the wireless reports without let or hindrance, and whether it is by the orders of the Home Secretary that this action against the exhibition of the "British Worker" is taken?

Sir W. JOYNSON-HICKS

I only received notice of this question at a quarter to one this afternoon, and I have called for an immediate report. I have not yet received it.
