HC Deb 10 May 1926 vol 195 c688
Major Sir BERTRAM FALLE

(by Private Notice) asked the Home Secretary if he will allow Members of Parliament and others to be enrolled as special constables for the protection of the law—abiding public in whatever district those specials may find themselves, for their own legal justification and for their protection if action should be found necessary?

Sir H. BARNSTON

I am sorry that this question has not been sent to me.

Mr. THURTLE

Arising out of that answer—

Mr. WARDLAW-MILNE

On a point of Order. Can a supplementary question arise when no answer has been given?

Mr. SPEAKER

It can arise out of the question.

Mr. THURTLE

Arising out of that question, does not the hon. Gentleman think Conservative Members would be better serving the interests of the capitalists by remaining in the House rather than enlisting as special police?

Mr. W. THORNE

May I ask the Prime Minister, as the chief negotiator, whether it is not a fact that the General Council of the Trade Union Congress was quite willing to co-operate with the Government?

Mr. SPEAKER

That does not arise out of the present question.

Mr. THORNE

No, it is a separate question.
