HC Deb 06 May 1926 vol 195 c426
8. Mr. HURD

asked the President of the Board of Education if he will assist local authorities to keep their education estimates within bounds by reducing to the indispensable minimum the number of returns and estimates for which the Board now calls.

Lord E. PERCY

My hon. Friend will be glad to learn that steps have already been taken to simplify both the returns made to my Department and the records kept by them, thereby to reduce the volume and cost of the administrative work which they involve both to the Board and the Local Authorities. This consideration is being borne in mind in the revision of the Regulations which is being undertaken, and I shall do all that I can to further its application.
