HC Deb 04 May 1926 vol 195 cc189-90
17. Lieut.-Colonel HENEAGE

asked the Secretary of State for War what steps are being taken to mechanicalise certain batteries of the Royal Horse Artillery; and if the question of providing anti-tank defence to cavalry units is receiving attention?

Sir L. WORTHINGTON-EVANS

No steps are being taken at present to mechanicalise any batteries of the Royal Horse Artillery, but experiments are being undertaken with various types of mechanical vehicles to ascertain which types of vehicle are best suited to artillery requirements. As regards the second part of the question, the whole problem of anti-tank defence is receiving attention and experiments are in progress.
