HC Deb 03 May 1926 vol 195 c31
64. Sir ROBERT SANDERS

asked the Minister of Transport the amount spent by local authorities on the upkeep of unclassified roads in each of the last four years for which returns are available?

Colonel ASHLEY

I regret that there are no records available as to the amounts spent by local authorities on the upkeep of unclassified roads, but I have made certain estimates of these amounts, which I propose to send to my hon. Friend.

67. Lieut.-Colonel ACLAND-TROYTE

asked the Minister of Transport whether the grant of £1,250,000 for the maintenance of unclassified roads may be regarded as a minimum annual charge on the Road Fund for this purpose, or whether it is made for one year only?

Colonel ASHLEY

The allocation is applicable to the present financial year only. While I carnet pledge the future, I hope that it will be possible to continue to make provision for grants to unclassified roads in future years.
