HC Deb 03 May 1926 vol 195 cc179-80

Transfer of Sums from Road Fund to Exchequer.

17. "That the sum of seven million pounds shall be transferred to the Exchequer from the Road Fund."

First Resolution, read a Second time.

Motion made, and Question proposed, "That this House doth agree with the Committee in the said Resolution."

Mr. A. V. ALEXANDER

I have down an Amendment to leave out the word "fourpence" and to insert instead thereof the words "one penny." I think the House will agree that it would not he to the best advantage if we were to debate this Motion at length to-night, and, in view of the over-riding national circumstances, I do not propose to move my Amendment, but I give notice that I shall do so on the Committee stage of the Finance Bill.

Question put, and agreed to.

Second Resolution agreed to.

Resolved, "That the further consideration of the Resolutions be adjourned."— [Commander Eyres Monsell.]

Third and subsequent Resolutions to be considered to-morrow.
