HC Deb 03 May 1926 vol 195 cc14-5
28. Sir H. BRITTAIN

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether, in view of the present position of the British film industry and the ever-growing influence of moving pictures in this and other countries, he will consult with the representatives in this country and the Dominions, with a view to evolving a. policy which can be placed before the imperial Conference at its forthcoming meeting for the purpose of securing results in an adequate representation of British films throughout the British Empire?

Sir B. CHADWICK

I would refer my hon. Friend to the answer given to the hon. Member for Bedford (Mr. Wells) by the President of the Board of Trade on Tuesday last, a copy of which I am sending him.

Sir H. BRITTAIN

In view of the very strong feeling held in every one et the Dominions in this regard, will the hon. Gentleman do all he can to evolve a policy that can be finally settled at the Imperial Conference?

Sir B.CHADWICK

The President of the Board of Trade has, as the answer will show, recommended that the matter should be placed on the Agenda of the Imperial Conference.
