HC Deb 30 March 1926 vol 193 c1851
86. Mr. WHITELEY

asked the Minister of Labour whether he is prepared to recommend the Umpire to re-open the case of the claim for unemployment benefit by the workmen of the Consett Collieries, in view of the new point raised as to definite guarantees against victimisation being refused by the colliery company?

Mr. BETTERTON

I have no information regarding the new point referred to in the question. If there are any fresh facts, however the proper course is for the men's representative to submit them in writing in order that the Umpire may consider whether the case should be re-opened.

Mr. WHITELEY

If I supply the hon. Gentleman with the new facts, is he prepared to assist in having the case reopened?

Mr. BETTERTON

I will gladly have any new facts submitted to the Umpire.
