HC Deb 30 March 1926 vol 193 cc1819-20
17. Lieut.-Colonel HENEAGE

asked the Secretary of State for War what percentage of British-grown oats, hay, and straw was issued to the Army in Great Britain during the past year; and what is the value of foreign forage supplied during the same period?

The FINANCIAL SECRETARY to the WAR OFFICE. (Captain Douglas King)

All the hay and straw issued to the Army in Great Britain was homegrown. For the year ending 30th April, 1926, about 30 per cent. of the oats issued or to be isued are home-grown, the balance being practically all Canadian. The value of the latter is approximately £146,000.
