HC Deb 23 March 1926 vol 193 c1038
79. Mr. RILEY

asked the Minister of Agriculture the number of civilian small holdings provided either by the Ministry or county councils without buildings previous to 1914; the corresponding number provided with buildings; and the total acreage in each case?

Mr. GUINNESS

Up to the 31st December, 1913, the total area of land let or sold by councils of counties and county boroughs and the Ministry for the purpose of small holdings was 167,572 acres divided into 11,350 holdings. The number of dwelling-houses provided on these holdings was 2,264, of which 1,550 were existing when the estates were acquired. I regret that I have no information with regard to the area of the holdings equipped with dwelling-houses or the number and area of holdings provided with farm buildings.
