HC Deb 23 March 1926 vol 193 c1016
32. Mr. T. HENDERSON

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether, in view of the grant of £26,750 paid to the Scottish National Housing Company for the purpose of making good any deficit resulting from that company's operations at Rosyth, he can state the amount paid as dividend to the shareholders of that company in 1925?

Sir J. GILMOUR

The amount paid in 1925 to shareholders of the Scottish National Housing Company, Limited, was £5,342 9s. 5d., less Income Tax amounting to £1,135 5s, 6d.

Mr. HENDERSON

Can the right hon. Gentleman say why the expression "dividend" is used? Is it not the wrong word?

Sir J. GILMOUR

They are guaranteed interest.

Mr. HENDERSON

Interest on what? On the share holding?

Sir GILMOUR

On the issued capital.
