HC Deb 23 March 1926 vol 193 c1001

SHOREHAM HARBOUR BILL (by Order).

Order for Second Reading read.

Captain A. EVANS

I object.

The CHAIRMAN of WAYS and MEANS (Mr. James Hope)

I think that the hon. and gallant Gentleman must be under some misapprehension. The Members who put down notices of objection to this Bill have withdrawn them. I understand that the promoters of the Bill have given undertakings that satisfy all the objections of which I have heard.

Captain EVANS

I was asked to object to this Bill on behalf of shipping interests. I did not know that any settlement had been arrived at, and I beg to withdraw my objection.

Bill read a Second time, and committed.

MARRIAGES PROVISIONAL ORDER BILL,

"to confirm a Provisional Order made by one of His Majesty's Principal Secretaries of State under the Marriages Validity (Provisional Orders) Acts, 1905 and 1924," presented by Captain HICKING; read the First time; and referred to the Examiners of Petitions for Private Bills, and to be printed. [Pill 71.]
