HC Deb 18 March 1926 vol 193 c597
70. Colonel WOODCOCK

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies if he can state what are the intentions of the Colonial Office in regard to the further increase of releases of rubber under the Stevenson scheme?

The SECRETARY of STATE for the COLONIES (Mr. Amery)

I am closely observing the rubber situation, and hope to be able to make a public notification in due course in regard to the rate of the future release of rubber from Ceylon and Malaya.

colonel WOODCOCK

Can my right hon. Friend give us any idea of the date? If would be a great deal more satisfactory to the industry if it knew what to expect in the near future.

Mr. AMERY

I hope to do so as early possible.

colonel WOODCOCK

Will that be within a week?

Mr. AMERY

I doubt it.

colonel WOODCOCK

Within two weeks?

Mr. AMERY

More nearly that time.
