HC Deb 16 March 1926 vol 193 cc214-5
10. Mr. HAYES

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether by Regulation or otherwise steps have been taken to improve accommodation for seamen on board ship, especially on ships now in course of construction?

Sir P. CUNLIFFE-LISTER

The standard of accommodation for seamen on board ship is gradually but continuously raised, partly by individual action, partly by official Regulations. I am sending the hon. Member a copy of the latest revision of the official Regulations, which came in force in October, 1923, and he will notice that more is required of the new ship than of the existing ship.
