HC Deb 16 March 1926 vol 193 c256
85. Mr. HORE-BELISHA

asked the Minister of Health what is the average percentage of population per acre in the United Kingdom as a whole, and in the industrial cities and towns as a whole?

Sir K. WOOD

On the basis of the estimated population of Great Britain and Northern Ireland for the year 1924, as published in the Registrar-General's Statistical Review, the figure asked for in the first part of the question is 0.74. The corresponding figure for the aggregate of all urban areas in England and Wales is 7.33. With regard to Scotland and Northern Ireland, the hon. Member should address inquiries to the Secretary of State for Scotland and the Home Secretary respectively.
