HC Deb 16 March 1926 vol 193 cc226-7
24. Sir A. SINCLAIR

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what is the total loss to the Board of Agriculture on the sheep stock- alone at Eriboll if valued at present prices as compared with the prices paid by the Board when they purchased the farm; when the farm of Eriboll was purchased; and how many holders have been settled since that date?

The SECRETARY of STATE for SCOTLAND (Sir John Gilmour)

I MIT not at the present time in a position to state the total loss on the sheep stock at Eriboll, since the price of the stock to a purchaser is still to be determined. The farm was purchased at Martinmas, 1919, and the Board of Agriculture for Scotland obtained entry and took over the stock at Whitsunday, 1921. Eight new holdings and eight enlargements have since been formed on part of the farm.

Sir A. SINCLAIR

Have the holders the right reserved to them under the Small Holdings Act of purchasing their holdings if they wish to do so?

Sir J. GILMOUR

I should require notice of that question.
