HC Deb 16 March 1926 vol 193 c257
6. Sir P. RICHARDSON

(forSir H. BRITTAIN) asked the President of the Board of Trade whether, in view of the success achieved this year by the British Industries Fair, the Government will renew the grant for publicity next year?

Sir P. CUNLIFFE-LISTER

There is every reason to believe that the extensive campaign of publicity on behalf of the British Industries Fair, which was made possible by the Government grant of £25,000, contributed in no small measure to the success of the Fair. Both the London and Birmingham sections of the Fair have expressed a keen desire that this encouragement and assistance should be renewed. In these circumstances, and having regard to the importance of doing all in their power to stimulate trade, the Government propose to make a grant of the same amount in connection with the next Fair.

Colonel DAY

In view of the fact that this grant has been so successful, will the. right hon. Gentleman consider increasing it?

Sir P. CUNLIFFE-LISTER

No, Sir.
