HC Deb 16 March 1926 vol 193 c240
44. Sir P. RICHARDSON

(forSir H. BRITTAIN) asked the Minister of Transport. whether he has received a resolution from the Acton Borough Council pointing out the inconvenience which would be caused to the inhabitants of the town by the curtailment of the present omnibus services, and particularly the suggested curtailment of Service No. 526, which is much needed; and, in view of the rapid growth of this industrial centre, will he cause inquiries to be made with a view to leaving unimpaired the travelling facilities of the public in this district?

Lieut.-Colonel MOORE-BRABAZON

The answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative. As regards the second part, in every case where it has been decided to restrict omnibus services running over tramway routes, returns have first been obtained showing, hour by hour, the number of passengers conveyed throughout the day and the accommodation provided by each form of passenger transport service operating along the route. I am satisfied that the restrictions to be imposed wit. still leave adequate facilities for the public.
