asked the Under-Secretary of State for India whether he is aware that a recent vacancy on the Indian Railway Board has been filled by a European; and will be state whether no Indian was considered suitable for the post?

The UNDER-SECRETARY of STATE for INDIA (Earl Winterton)

An impending vacancy in the Financial Commissionership of Railways in India will be filled by a European, whom the Government of India, after careful consideration of the claims of possible candidates, have selected as the best man for the post.
