§ Earl WINTERTONI have so far seen only Press reports of the evidence. Burmans can compete for commissions in the Indian Army on the same footing as Indians. The question of enlistment would appear to be outside the scope of the committee to which my hon. Friend refers.
§ Mr. WARDLAW-MILNEIs the Noble Lord aware that the Committee have already dealt with this matter?
§ Earl WINTERTONYes, but the point is that the Committee have not yet reported, and until they do report, I do not think any useful purpose could be served by my saying anything.
