HC Deb 08 March 1926 vol 192 cc1918-9
31. Captain GARRO-JONES

asked the Secretary of State for Dominion Affairs whether he can now state what progress has been made in the negotiations with the Turkish Government for a peaceful settlement of the Mosul frontier?

Mr. LOCKER-LAMPSON

I have been asked to reply. No further communications have passed between the two Governments since Sir R. Lindsay's return from Angora on 28th January, but His Majesty's Government have been carefully considering the instructions to be given to Sir Ronald Lindsay about which they have been in frequent communication with him. It has been decided that the Ambassador shall return to this country for consultation.

Mr. THURTLE

Is the hon. Gentleman aware that the conclusion of the recent Treaty between France and Turkey has made it more imperative than ever that there should be a peaceful solution of this problem?

Mr. PONSONBY

Is the Ambassador going to Angora before coming to this country?

Mr. LOCKER-LAMPSON

I believe he is at Angora at the present moment.
