HC Deb 08 March 1926 vol 192 c1899
42. Mr. HURD

asked the Minister of Agriculture what arrangements will be made for land drainage development under the new Government grant in areas where no drainage authorities exist, but where, as in Wiltshire, increased productivity from agricultural land is largely dependent upon work of this nature?

Mr. GUINNESS

Under the Land Drainage Bill, which has recently been introduced into the House of Lords, it is intended to confer greater powers as regards land drainage on county councils, and these powers will, I hope, enable these councils to secure that such drainage works as are necessary in areas where no drainage authority exists are carried out.
