HC Deb 08 March 1926 vol 192 c1910
66. Mr. LANSBURY

asked the Minister of Health whether he is aware that the medical officer of health for St. Albans has reported that 41 houses in that town are unfit for human habitation, and that there are other similar houses scattered throughout the town; and whether, in view of the fact that there is very serious overcrowding in some of these places and that the health of children and aged people is endangered, he will stake steps to urge the local authority to take immediate action for dealing with these conditions, which have been in existence for a considerable time?

Sir K. WOOD

I understand that the medical officer of health made a representation on the 16th ultimo that certain areas in the city, comprising 41 houses, are unhealthy areas, and that, at their meeting on the 16th instant, the city council propose to take the representation into consideration as required by the Housing Act.
