HC Deb 08 March 1926 vol 192 cc1902-3
52. Mr. T. WILLIAMS

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether he has yet appointed the committee to deal with drainage in the Doncaster area; and, if so, will he state who are the members of the committee?

Mr. GUINNESS

No, Sir. I fully realise the importance of an early decision in this matter, and I will make an announcement as soon as possible.

Mr. PALING

In view of the fact that the Royal Commission in their Interim Report pointed out the urgency of this matter, and that two or three months have already elapsed, is it not time that something was done?

Mr. GUINNESS

This is a matter in which several Departments are concerned. We have to decide inter-departmentally the terms of reference, and then there are communications with the Treasury on the matter. We have, further, to arrange about the personnel of the committee. I can assure the hon. Member that no undue delay has taken place.
