HC Deb 23 June 1926 vol 197 cc357-8
25. Mr. SANDEMAN

asked the Under-Secretary of State for the Home Department, as representing the First Commis- sioner of Works, if he is aware that the old town hall at Middleton has now stood empty for a long time; and, seeing that both from the point of view of accommodation and rent this building would make better premises for the local Labour Exchange than the Liberal Independent Labour Party clubs which are at present being rented at a high figure, will he look into the matter?

Captain HACKING (for FIRST COMMISSIONER of WORKS)

Inquiries have already been made of the local authority in this matter, and it has been ascertained that the accommodation is not available for letting for the purposes of the Employment Exchange.
