§ 6. Colonel DAYasked the President of the Board of Trade if his attention has been drawn to the shortage of the natural products necessary for the manufacture of paper; and whether any action has been taken by his Department with a view to safeguarding and increasing supplies of raw material?
§ Sir P. CUNLIFFE-LISTERI am not aware of any present shortage of these materials, but I am informed that the 1885 Forestry Commissioners are planting in Great Britain considerable areas with trees suitable for the production of pulp, and are prepared to give financial assistance to local authorities and others for the same purpose.
