§ The FIRST LORD of the ADMIRALTY (Mr. Bridgeman)The wreck of M1 was not definitely located and, therefore, no steps could be taken to salve her. In the case of the United States Submarine S51, the wreck was located in, approximately, 20 fathoms, a depth beyond which divers cannot operate with 1424 success for any longer period. M1 is believed to be lying in about 40 fathoms, at which depth divers could only work in a special dress, which is now on trial but has not as yet proved reliable.
