asked the Under-Secretary of State for the Home Department what amount of opium is sent to this country from India; and for what purposes is it used?

116,000 lbs. of raw opium were imported into this country from India in 1925. 16,000 lbs. Were exported during the same year. The Indian opium retained in this country is used for the manufacture of morphine and other drugs and in medicinal preparations.
