HC Deb 19 July 1926 vol 198 c876
28. Mr. RAMSDEN

asked the Secretary of State for Dominion Affairs whether any steps have been taken, in consultation with the Dominions, by which there will be such reciprocity of bankruptcy administration throughout the Empire as will ensure the assets of a debtor being distributed equally among the creditors wherever situated?

Mr. AMERY

Despatches were addressed last year to the Governments of the Dominions and to the Governments of the Colonies and Protectorates inquiring whether the provisions of the legislation in force were similar in this respect to the law in this country under which equality of treatment is assured to creditors wherever situated. From the replies already received, it would appear that there. is a considerable measure of uniformity on this point throughout the Empire.

Mr. RAMSDEN

Will this question be discussed at the imperial Conference

Mr. AMERY

In so far as the necessity may arise from want of uniformity I have no doubt it may be discussed, but, as I point out in my reply, there is already a considerable measure of uniformity.
