HC Deb 13 July 1926 vol 198 c215
12. Mr. HORE-BELISHA

asked the Secretary of State for War how many men invalided from the service in 1925 and denied pensions on the ground of non-attributability appealed to the War Office against the original decision; and in how many cases was the decision modified?

The FINANCIAL SECRETARY to the WAR OFFICE (Captain Douglas King)

I regret that it is not possible from the records available to analyse the figures given by my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for War in his answer of 22nd June, so as to distinguish between appeals made by men themselves to the War Office and cases referred by Chelsea Hospital for further consideration.

Mr. HORE-BELISHA

Am I to understand that these two very similar figures are not in the possession of the Department and are not accessible?

Captain KING

The hon. Member must not understand that. My right hon. Friend gave the hon. Member the actual figures of the two sets of cases combined. The question does not seem to warrant the amount of work that would be involved in sorting them out.
