asked the Minister of Health the amount of cash in the Fund formerly known as the Lascar Fund at the date of transference, and the amount now standing to the credit of the Fund; and how many pensions have been awarded to aged seamen since the date of the transference?

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

I am informed by the governing body of the Seamen's Pension Fund, formerly known as the Lascar Fund, that the amount of the Fund taken over as at 30th June, 1918, was £108,658 12s. 5d., and at 31st December, 1925, the total amount of the Fund was £657,347 8s. 11d. The number of pensions awarded up to 31st December, 1925, was 2,097. The Report of the Governing Body for the year 1925 will, it is anticipated, be published in the course of the present month.
